This is a course about evaluating arguments. One of our goals, therefore, will be to investigate—somewhat theoretically—what makes for a good argument. This course has a second and more important goal, though: to develop the (crucial!) skill of evaluating arguments. To that end, we will cover four main topics.

Each topic has its own unit:

Unit I: Some prerequisites to reasoning and arguing
Unit II: Deductive reasoning
Unit III: Inductive reasoning
Unit IV: Fallacies
