Instructor: Jan Boxill. This seminar meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. in Caldwell 105.

What use is ethics–the study of morality? According to Socrates, it’s about how we ought to live. Ethics has to do with our daily lives. Developing  a deeper and clearer understanding of what distinguishes right and wrong and of how we ought or ought not to choose are relevant to everything we do.  Toward this end, this seminar will examine both the practical as well as the theoretical issues including relativism, utilitarianism, deontological ethics, virtue ethics, and ethics of care.
