Instructor: Carla Merino-Rajme. This course meets TR 11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. via remote synchronous (RS) instruction.

This course will be centered on the metaphysics of time. We will explore different views on the nature of time and its various features, asking questions such as: Is time real? What distinguishes time from space? Is time travel logically possible? If so, in virtue of what would a time traveler persist? Is time travel physically possible? What grounds the directionality of time? Are the past and the future real? What can we learn about time from our temporal experience? How do the various metaphysical views on time relate to our scientific understanding of time?

Students will further develop their critical thinking, writing, and oral presentation skills, as well as their abilities to reason with others and communicate effectively with them.

Prerequisite: 1 PHIL course.
