Instructor: Michael Bertrand. This course meets Monday – Friday from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in Caldwell 105.

In this course, we will grapple with four main problems in philosophy: (1) What is knowledge and what can we know about the external world? (2) What reasons do we have for believing that God exists? How are these impacted by the existence of evil in the world? (3) Are we free? In light of this, can we be responsible for our actions? (4) what is morality? Should we act morally? Can we act morally? How does this impact our thinking on difficult moral issues?

We will be reading both contemporary and historical philosophical works.
