PHIL 165.001 – Bioethics
This course meets MWF 9:05 – 9:55 a.m. in SC 209.
Modern science, medicine and healthcare raise many important moral questions. Is abortion morally permissible? Should we always extend a suffering person’s life? Do animals have rights? The aim of this course is to teach you how to understand these questions and critically examine their possible answers. To accomplish this, we shall first familiarize ourselves with moral methodology and scientific background information, before delving into contemporary literature on bioethical issues including abortion, euthanasia, human research and animal rights.
