PHIL/WGST 275.001 – Moral and Philosophical Issues of Gender in Society
Instructor: Logan Mitchell. This course meets MTWRF 1:15 – 2:45 p.m. via remote synchronous (RS) instruction.
This is a course on feminist philosophy. Feminism is the movement to end gendered oppression, so we will be exploring various philosophical perspectives on gender, oppression, and how these topics intersect with each other, as well as other social identities. In doing so, we will explore our own personal perspectives about gender and explore how gender impacts our broader social world, while also developing philosophical skills like reflection, analysis, writing, and argumentation. We will explore a variety of themes including trans philosophy, Black feminist thought, pornography, sexual assault, and sex work.
