Instructor: Matthew Kotzen. This course meets R 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. in CW 213.

This course will involve discussion of a variety of related epistemological issues in the law.  We will discuss standards of proof, burdens of production and persuasion, mens rea, standards of appellate review, and various rules of evidence.  Throughout, the focus will be on the epistemic, moral, and practical values that motivate and are expressed by these legal principles.  No prior knowledge of law or epistemology will be presupposed.
