PHIL 110.001 – Introduction to Philosophy: Great Works
Instructor: Alfredo Watkins. This course meets MWF 9:05 – 9:55 a.m. in CW 105.
This course will introduce students to some of the most fundamental questions of philosophy.
Topics covered will include: God and morality, the existence of the soul, knowledge of the external world, the existence of God, communism and capitalism, political authority, the foundations of ethics, and free will.
We will read the texts of many of the most influential thinkers in Western philosophy, including Plato, Aristotle, Descartes, Marx, Locke, Mill and Kant, among others.
