Introduction to Philosophy: Main Problems (PHIL 101/002)
Instructor: Gregory Salmieri. This course meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. in Murray G201.
This course will introduce students to philosophy by considering three perennial philosophical questions: “Is there a God?”; “What is the basis of knowledge?”; and “What is the relationship between being moral and doing what is best for oneself?” In each case we will consider competing positions defended by historical and contemporary philosophers, and students will be asked to reach (and defend) their own conclusions.
