This course will be an introduction to philosophy. We will examine some attempts made by influential thinkers to understand how we should live our lives. In particular, we will explore the following questions: What makes an action morally right or wrong? Which distributions of resources are fair and just? How, if at all, do race and gender fit into the answers to these questions? Authors will include: Mill, Kant, Rawls, Dworkin, Frye, and Appiah.
