This course is intended as an introduction to the philosophical issues regarding gender and society.  We will examine some important concepts in feminist theory, such as gender and sex, oppression and sexism. With these concepts in hand, we will go on to study additional ethical, political and philosophical issues that arise from our gendered relations. Questions that will be discussed include: What is gender? What does it mean to be a specific gender? What counts as rape? What is intersectionality? What does it mean to be a feminist and what should it mean?
