PHIL 164.002 – Morality and Business
Instructor: Erik Zhang. This course meets MWF 1:25 – 2:15 p.m. in CW 105.
The course takes an applied approach to business ethics that emphasizes real-world application. While we will cover the academic literature on business ethics, we will also pay attention to practical problems and real-life examples and illustrations. Sample topics include ethical issues that arise in the context of corporate responsibility, employee rights, consumer behaviour, insider trading, fair trade, globalization, and governmental regulation of business practices. The goal is to acquaint you with, and facilitate your understanding of, some of the deepest ethical problems facing business and the way it’s practiced in the world today.
