Introduction to Great Works (PHIL 110.002)
Instructor: Jennifer Wright. This course meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. in New East 102.
This course is an introduction to some key questions and problems in philosophy through a selection of great works. We’ll draw upon work from ancient Greece and the early modern period as well as more contemporary pieces. We will consider questions exploring a number of areas including ethics and morality, political thought, God’s existence, miracles, the existence of the external world, the nature of the human mind and the limits of human understanding. Classes will include discussions and group work alongside interactive lectures.
