Instructor: L.A. Paul. This class meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. in the Stone Center 209.

This course will explore the nature and experience of time, from a physical, metaphysical and psychological perspective. We’ll discuss the direction of time, asymmetries between the past and the future, the dependence of the future on the past, the possibility of time travel, whether time passes objectively or merely subjectively, whether the past and the future exist, and a range of metaphysical questions underlying these issues. We’ll also discuss some of the psychological results involving the perceptual construction of certain kinds of time-like experiences and other aspects of visual temporal phenomenology.
