PHIL/CMPL 482.001 – Philosophy and Literature
Instructor: James Lesher. This course meets TR 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. in CW 208.
In PHIL 482 we will read and discuss literary works that incorporate philosophical concepts, theories, or doctrines. Our main aim will be to identify, understand, and assess the importance of these philosophical materials. In the process we will also explore two broader questions: “In what ways might a literary setting either enhance or detract from the value of a philosophical work?” and “In what ways might the inclusion of philosophical materials either enhance or detract from the value of a literary work?”
Instructor permission required to add.
