Practical Ethics (PHIL 163.001)
Instructor: Patrick Connolly. This course meets Monday – Friday from 9:45 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. in Caldwell 103.
In this course we will be examining the ethical dimensions of our everyday practices and activities. We will examine the ways in which general ethical principles apply to specific cases, but we will also consider other approaches to these issues. Specific topics to be covered include animals (food, pets, and clothing), politics (foreign aid, taxation, and voting), reproduction (abortion, overpopulation, child selection), and the environment (pollution, climate change, values in nature).
