Instructor: Shanna Slank. This course meets MWF 1:25 – 2:15 p.m. in HN 125.

This course has three parts, each guided by the questions below.

We’ll begin with the very abstract: What is ethics? How do we “do” ethics? Are there right and wrong answers to ethical questions?

Next, we’ll consider the question of abortion. Is it ever okay to have an abortion? If so, under what circumstances? If abortion is immoral does that automatically mean it should be illegal? Do our beliefs about abortion constrain our other moral beliefs?

Finally, we will end the course with ethical questions about beliefs. We’ll consider both stereotypes and ideologies. What, if anything, is wrong in believing such things? How should we act towards those who have such beliefs?
