Instructor: Yan Chen. This course meets MTWRF 1:15 – 2:45 p.m. via remote synchronous (RS) instruction.

This course explores issues surrounding gender from a philosophical perspective. We will begin with examining some foundational concepts such as gender, sex, oppression, and sexism. We will then continue to think about these themes by looking at ways in which gender-based oppression manifests in our society and in our everyday interactions with others. Topics include silencing, gaslighting, emotional labor, and pornography. In doing so, we will practice various philosophical skills, while reflecting on our own personal viewpoints about gender.
