Current Issues in Analytic Philosophy (PHIL 433.001)

An in-depth examination of how philosophical questions about mind, language, and rationality intersect. Our starting place will be the philosophical system of Donald Davidson (1917-2003), one of the most important philosophers of the 20th century. Topics to be explored include: the nature of truth and language, psychological explanation and the mind-body problem, non-human animal cognition, the possibility of alternative conceptual schemes, and empirical knowledge.
