Cal is a fifth-year graduate student with broad interests in epistemology, mind, and the philosophy of language. He is currently thinking about undermining defeat and formal epistemology, and he wrote a master’s thesis on KK. He is completely mystified by intentionality, normativity, and confirmation. He aspires to one day think about these topics. Before coming to UNC he studied philosophy (and some math) at the University of Chicago.

Outside of philosophy Cal enjoys playing various instruments, taking walks, and woodworking. Fans of this page will know of his previous aspirations to build a “proper bookshelf”; this has since been more or less accomplished (pictures available upon request). He is currently working on a Sellers (not Sellars) inspired workbench.
