Instructor: Steven Swartzer. This course meets TR 3:30 – 4:45 p.m. in CW 208.

Pre-College Philosophy is an experiential education course designed for students with an interest in practical ethics, education, and philosophical outreach. In this class, we will approach contemporary moral issues, as well as questions of moral development, by helping train high school students to excel in the High School Ethics Bowl competition.  Class members will take an active role in their own philosophical learning, thereby deepening their own understanding of practical ethics and moral decision-making, and gaining insights into the extent to which young people are capable of mature and reflective  moral reasoning. Students will be required to do offsite work at local high schools as part of this course.

Permission of the instructor is required to enroll in this course.

Prerequisite: 2 previous PHIL courses
