Instructor: Sara Copic. This course meets TR 8:00 – 9:15 a.m. in CW 105.

This is an introductory course to problems in practical ethics. We will discuss what moral obligations we have with respect to real world issues. What are our moral obligations to those in need, to other animals, to future generations of people, or to fetuses? To what extent do our moral obligations change when we are at fault, or when we are not at fault? We will also step back from the practical issues to some extent, however, in order to gain an understanding of how we should think about ethical issues more broadly, and to explore what general principles ought to govern our behavior and our ethical thought.
