Instructor: Vida Yao. This course meets Monday – Friday from 9:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in Caldwell 213.

This course will focus on Ancient Greek ethics. We will explore Socratic thought, and the works of Plato and Aristotle. We will pursue questions about moral psychology, happiness, virtue, and how the Ancient Greeks conceived of a well-lived life. We will also consider what one’s relationship to one’s community is, and what obligations one might have as a political being.

This course will well serve anybody who is interested in Ancient Greek thought, contemporary ethical thought, or moral psychology, but will also serve as a good introductory course for students who do not have any background in philosophy.
