Seneca’s Medea: A Stage Reading and Community Discussion
March 27, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Join the Department of Philosophy and the Department of Classics as we think about these questions with a stage reading of Seneca’s Medea, followed by a community-wide discussion about the play’s philosophical and literary themes. This is an opportunity to experience and discuss the story of a tragic figure that has influenced and intrigued many across generations, and to consider some of the foundational questions the play raises: human fragility, the role of emotions in our moral lives, woman empowerment and subjugation in the ancient world, the relationship between anger, love, and revenge–and so much more.
