Instructor: Margaret Shea. This course meets R 3:30 – 6:00 p.m. in CW 213.

This seminar will explore contemporary philosophical debates about the structure of practical normativity and, in particular, the relationship between reasons and values. Topics to be discussed include ‘reasons fundamentalism,’ buck-passing about value, the relation between reasons for action and reasons for attitudes, and the proposal that, in addition to the deontic and evaluative, there is a third normative category, the fitting.

Prerequisite (for undergraduates): 2 PHIL courses, including one in value theory.
