IDEAs in Action: Which curricular requirements does this course satisfy?

Instructor: Ian Cho. This course meets MWF 9:05 – 9:55 a.m. in KL B125.

This is an introductory course on philosophy, designed to take students on an exciting journey through a broad range of topics. Throughout the course, students will explore foundational questions in philosophy, such as: What do we know? How do we know that the external world exists? How do you know that, apart from yourself, there are other minds? What is the “I” that persists over time? What is it to have a mind? Do we have free will? Is there an objective morality? Why should I care about others? How ought I treat others? Where do we all come from?

By tackling these big questions, students will develop the ability to think critically, question assumptions, and engage with ideas that have shaped how we understand the world and our place in it.
