PHIL 760.001 & 002 – Advanced Studies in Moral Theory (Contemporary Neo-Kantian Works)
Instructors: Rosalind Chaplin and Susan Wolf. This course meets T 4:00 – 6:30 p.m. in CW 213.
For many philosophers, the default form of ethical thought is consequentialist, and the paradigm of moral deliberation is utilitarian reasoning. This seminar seeks to dislodge the paradigm by studying contemporary work by ethicists inspired and influenced by Kant. Authors include Barbara Herman, Thomas Hill, Christine Korsgaard, and Tamar Schapiro.
