Instructor: Marilyn McCord Adams. This seminar meets on Wednesdays from 4 – 6:30 p.m. in Caldwell 213.
This offering will focus on the problem of evil as discussed by twentieth and twenty-first century analytic philosophers: whether and/or how the existence of an omniscient, omnipotent, and perfectly good God is logically compatible with he existence of evils in the amounts and of the kinds and with the distributions found in the actual world. Authors examined will include Mackie, Pike, Plantinga, Griffin, Hartshorne, Hick, DZ Phillips, Stump, Swinburne, Van Inwagen, as well as R. and M. Adams.
