Modern Philosophy (PHIL 820)
Instructors: Marilyn McCord Adams and Robert Merrihew Adams. This seminar meets on Tuesdays from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. Caldwell 208.
The topic for Spring 2010 is causation in medieval and early modern (mainly 17th century) philosophy. We will focus first on efficient and formal causation in both periods, and then final causation in both periods. Authors studied will include Aquinas, Terrini, Wylton, Scotus, Ockham, Suarez, Descartes, Boyle and Locke, Malebranche, and Leibniz.
