PPE and “Toxic Philanthropy” with John Bare (UNC)

November 18 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Description:

The wild uncertainties of philanthropy, James Baldwin wrote, can drive givers to madness.* If only Baldwin had had access to PPE students and faculty! Using PPE lenses, we can uncover critical questions and explore innovative approaches that hold promise for the future of philanthropy.

On Monday, November 18, in Caldwell Hall 213, join Shaffer Distinguished Fellow John Bare for a trial-run presentation designed to explain how philanthropy currently operates. The goal is for PPE students and faculty to join together at this feedback-driven presentation to discuss and imagine new futures for the field. The PPE Program is offering a course on philanthropy in the spring, and the feedback generated from this workshop will be used to help us prepare.

Catered dinner will be provided.

(Note: This event will have limited seating capacity. Arrive early to claim a spot!)
