Compass Workshop

August 12, 2019 - August 13, 2019

Compass is a two-day workshop for diverse undergraduates and terminal MA students interested in philosophy. We aim to create a relaxed and inclusive environment for students to discuss philosophical topics, network, and hone their academic skills. Our hope is that this event contribute to the greater goal of addressing under-representation in professional and academic philosophy. The workshop will feature pre-read paper discussions, panel talks with graduate students and faculty, and mentoring.

UNC’s focus for this year’s Compass workshop will be preparation for a philosophy PhD program. Alongside our other planned events, we will also be mentoring students on how to build a strong application and discussing workload, community, and life in general as a PhD student.
