Saying Goodbye to Geoff Brennan

It is with profound soundness that the Department announces the death of our colleague and friend, Prof. Geoff Brennan.  Since January 2006, Geoff was a Research Professor at both UNC and Duke, where he served as a Core Faculty member in the joint Program in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics.  An economist by training, Geoff was an eminent scholar in public choice theory, public economics, and behavioral economics, and also had robust cross-disciplinary interests in political science and philosophy.  Geoff was widely respected, admired, and loved by his colleagues and friends, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  Geoff is survived by his wife Margaret; children Susan, Michael, Robyn, and Philip; and his many grandchildren.  Geoff’s funeral will be live streamed from All Saints Anglican Church, Ainslie on Thursday August 11, 2022, at 2pm AEST (midnight EST).  A video recording will be available shortly thereafter.
