Rebecca Walker, Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Medicine and Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Philosophy Department, specializes in bioethics. Her work has focused on the ethics of how we treat non-human animals, medical ethics views of patient autonomy, ethical issues in the distribution of health care resources, and methodological issues in practical ethics. She is a co-investigator in UNC’s Center for Genomics and Society, a member of the UNC Hospital Ethics Committee, and on the advisory committee for the Southeast Regional Center of Excellence for Emerging Infections and Biodefense, Policy Ethics and Law Core.
