Instructor: Jessi Addison. This course meets TR 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. in DE 305.

This course is an introduction to philosophical thought through an examination of some of the central problems in philosophy. We will touch on many, but not all, of the different subfields in philosophy, including epistemology, metaphysics, ethics, social and political philosophy, and philosophy of science. Students will complete short writing assignments throughout the semester that refine their abilities to break down and analyze complex arguments, state their reasoning clearly and briefly, and organize their thoughts into structured arguments of their own.
