PHIL 390H.001 – Honors: Seminar in Selected Topics (Love in Philosophy, Film, and Media)

Instructor: C.D.C. Reeve. This course meets MW 11:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in CW 213.

This year we’ll be focusing on love in all its forms, including erotic, filial, and so-called agapic love, as well as on friendship and associated feelings and emotions. Though we will discuss some films, which will be screened outside class time, or be available on Netflix, most of our time will be spent on philosophical texts, including Plato’s Lysis, Symposium, and Phaedrus, Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics (Books VII and VIII), and Berit Brogaard, On Romantic Love.
