Instructor: Emily Kelahan. This course meets Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. in Caldwell 105.

Is abortion a morally acceptable practice? Is euthanasia ever morally justified? Is hate speech a form of free speech? What, if anything, do the rich owe to the poor? Is society ever justified in limiting the access of consenting adults to drugs, sex, or pornography? In this course we will explore questions of morality and social policy with the aid of canonical articles in social philosophy and opinions from landmark court decisions. We will meet Monday-Friday from 8am-9:30am. The format of our course meetings will be largely interactive. Students in this course should be prepared to participate in group work activities designed to help us critically analyze and discuss contemporary moral and social issues.
