PHIL 66.001 – FYS: Ethics: Theoretical and Practical

Instructor: Thomas E. Hill, Jr. This course meets TR 11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. in CW 208.

This seminar aims to encourage students to think seriously and clearly about ethical problems by means of class discussion, group research projects, and examination of philosophical and literary works.

Theoretical issues to be considered include relativism, utilitarianism, deontological ethics, and virtue ethics. Practical issues may include abortion, substance abuse, treatment of animals and the environment, and sex, love, and marriage.
