Instructor: Kate Nolfi. This course meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00PM – 7:15PM in Caldwell 105.

In this course we will explore different philosophical perspectives about moral rightness, human values, and moral reasoning. We will begin by evaluating a number of philosophical attempts to characterize general principles or standards of moral goodness and rightness. We will focus our efforts here on trying to understand what it is about any particular action that makes that action morally good, bad, right or wrong. Additionally, we will explore some ways in which philophers have tried to explain why moral standards, whatever their content, have authority over our actions. Readings will be drawn from a variety of historical and contemporary sources.

The class is currently restricted to part-time students.  The Friday Center will open up registration to full-time students close to the start of the Spring semester.

This course satisfies the PH general education requirement.
