Instructor: Geoffrey Sayre-McCord. This seminar will meet on Mondays from 4:00 – 6:30 in Caldwell 208.

This course will tackle some issues in metaethics.  In the first part of the course we’ll be looking at some recent work concerning the connection, if any, between normative standards for belief and normative standards for desire.  This will set participants up for the Workshop in Metaethics at the end of February.  Which other issues will be taken up will depend on the interests of the participants.  Possible topics include evolution and morality, the nature of normative judgment, the connection (or not) between rationality and morality, the nature of reasons, the possibility of moral knowledge…
