Instructor: Alan Nelson. This course meets on Wednesdays from 1:00-3:30PM.

Kant is indisputably one of the most important–some would say THE most important- figure in the history of philosophy.  Our focus will be on his masterpiece, the Critique of Pure Reason.   We’ll try to understand the structure of the work as a whole giving due weight to the sometimes neglected “Dialectic” and “Method”.  We’ll also spend some time on understanding Kant as a reaction to classical rationalism and empiricism and also on how the Critique of Pure Reason fits into Kant’s overall system of philosophy.
