Normativity Workshop

March 9, 2018 @ 4:30 pm - March 11, 2018 @ 1:30 pm

A new workshop organized by Chris Howard and Alex Worsnip on normativity, broadly construed. There will be seven talks - six filled via an open call for papers, plus a keynote delivered by Prof. Selim Berker (Harvard), plus drinks, a workshop dinner, and friendly conversation. We hope that this will become an annual event.

Speaker Series: Kristie Dotson (Michigan State)

Kristie Dotson received her M.A. and Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Memphis. She also received a MA from the University of Illinois at Chicago in Literature and a BA in African American Studies and English Literature from Coe College. Professor Dotson researches in epistemology, feminist philosophy (particularly Black feminism and feminist epistemology), and critical philosophy of race.

Sreedhari Desai, Assistant Professor in the Kenan Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina works to understand "how, why, when and where social inequality, organizations and institutions interact." She is especially interested in how organizations and institutions influence ethical decision making.

Balter Distinguished Lecture: Agnes Callard (Chicago)

Agnes Gellen Callard is an Assistant Professor in Philosophy. She received her B.A. from the University of Chicago in 1997 and her PhD from Berkeley in 2008. Her primary areas of specialization are Ancient Philosophy and Ethics.

National High School Ethics Bowl

On April 20 - 22, High School teams from across the country will travel to UNC - Chapel Hill to compete in the National Championships.
