Philosophy @ the Movies: “Waiting for Superman”
February 24 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
The 2010 documentary “Waiting for Superman” examines different aspects of the American public school system. The movie serves as both a scathing critique of what is going wrong in our school system and a message of hope for how we can work to fix those problems.
After the screening of the movie, Macy Salzberger will lead a discussion that aims to address the following questions:
1) What does the movie get right about the public school system?
2) What does the movie get wrong?
3) What role should charter schools and school choice have in remedying the identified problems in the American public school system?
